We have been in the Philippines since Wednesday afternoon. We spent one evening in Manila before leaving for Legazpi. I have been having a good time so far. It feels great to be back in the Philippines.
The Missions really started once we arrived in Legazpi. After an hour’s rest, we went to a barangay where we were having a crusade. We showed the first half of ‘Passion of Christ’, Burt shared a message and Tuan & I did our testimonies.
On Friday, we did some visitations at two more barangays and then went back to first barangay for another crusade. Jenny shared her testimony and we showed the remainder of the ‘Passion of Christ’.
Saturday was a quiet day compared to the previous days. We traveled up to Bula for a Men & Women Fellowship and then spent the remainder of the evening practicing the items we had prepared.
We had Adult Sunday School, led by Burt and then church service at Word of Hope. Tuan, Jenny and Jerome went to WOH Daraga.
It felt like I was coming back to my second home. As I said before, it was great to be back and to see old friends again. It’s been 3 years since I was last here and while many things have changed, there are still the same good things to come back to.
I have always loved being in Legazpi and this time isn’t any different. I am really happy to be back.
Dear Ma, Pa, Ces, KA, Trish and everyone else… Hope everything is okay back at home. Take care of yourselves and keep in touch! Missing you heaps!! Thak you for your prayers, you are always in mine. Love you!!!! Kat xOx
We had our first evening service at WOH on Sunday evening. It was more of a youth service and it was great to see the passion that all the youth had. The energy was amazing! We were all screaming, shouting, dancing and jumping to the songs. The passion and energy was just contagious! You couldn’t just stand still and watch, you had to join in! I wish I could bottle up that passion and take it home so we could inject it in the people at home. The life was amazing!
On Monday, we had a rest day. I got new glasses (branded ones – DKNY! =P) for only P2,850 pesos, which is less than $75 AUD. There was a fundraiser concert held at the church that evening which we (the “Youth from Australia”) were “special guests”. We performed the ‘Chair’ skit and did the debut showing of the new and improved “Armour of God” movie. It was great seeing the talent that everyone was offering to God on this occasion. We were able to bless one guy by paying for his complete registration to the camp and able to witness the blessing that a lady received when they won a free bag of rice. Just the joy and gratefulness they had when they received the prizes touched my heart.
On Tuesday, we visited two barangays where we participated in Bible Studies and feeding programs. The children enjoyed the puppets and the stories immensely and the older people were blessed by the testimonies that we shared and the message that “Pastor Burt” shared. I am extremely proud of Jesse’s quick thinking and initiative during the evening’s puppet show where he took charge of two puppets because I was in the Bible Study praying for people.
The growth in the team members, both individually and corporately is evident and heart-warming. It’s a great blessing to see how the younger members (Jesse, Jerome, Liz, Eden, Shelly) are rising up and taking the initiative to do things, how they can pray by themselves and how they take charge in practices etc. It touches my heart knowing that they are getting this experiences and wisdom at such a young age because I know that it will help shape their future.
Hey peoples! =) We are having a great time here – been very hectic but it’s in the best way possible. I may not want to come home! =P but I hope everything’s okay there. I miss you lots.. take care & God bless alwaiz… Great big *hugz* to everyone okay?? I LOVE YOU HEAPS!!!!
It's our day off today! YAY! We had the Youth Camp this week which was great! I really enjoyed the energy and the passion that all of the young people have. Every time I have gone to the Youth Camp, it's only been as a camper but this time I was a Tribe Counsellor and a Cabin Leader. It was a great experience.
I will continue this post later... ingat! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
