Jenny Camacho

NAME:

Jenny Camacho

AGE:

20

IF YOU HAD TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO A GROUP OF STRANGERS, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY/HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

I’d probably just say, “Hi, I’m Jenny” with a sly grin on my face.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS:

Short, bubbly, mischievous.

HOW DID YOU RAISE THE MONEY REQUIRED FOR THE MISSIONS TRIP?

I earned it via my part-time job.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO COME ON THE 2007 PHILIPPINES MISSIONS TRIP?

After having heard so many good things about the missions from people who have been previously, I wanted to be able to experience it myself. I want to experience the lifestyle of a missionary, and be able to minister to people from different places and backgrounds.

WHAT ARE THE SORTS OF THINGS YOU ARE EXPECTING TO SEE/RECEIVE FROM GOING ON THE MISSIONS TRIP?

I want to see people touched and lives changed. I want to see the Holy Spirit move amongst the people and the missions team. I want to gain renewed inspiration and drive. I want to be able to learn from the people just as much as I impart unto them.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE BEST THING ABOUT THE MISSIONS TRIP?

Meeting new people and making new friends, bringing people to salvation, and building closer relationships with people on the missions team.

WHAT ABILITIES/TALENTS DO YOU HAVE THAT YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACTIVITIES THAT THE MISSIONS TEAM WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN?

I’d most likely be called upon to contribute to the music during the trip.

WHAT ABILITIES/TALENTS DO YOU HAVE THAT YOU THINK CAN BE IMPROVED BY GOING ON THE TRIP?

Music also. I know there will be people in the Philippines that I will be able to learn so much from. I’d also like to gain more self-confidence, particularly in the area of public speaking.

Hi everyone, am missing you all greatly. I hope everything is going well back home, and that our absence isn’t causing too much of a hassle. I’m pleased to report that everything is going splendidly here. The days here have been very eventful, normally starting at about 5.30am up until 10.30pm on some nights (not including the time taken to finish supper). We’ve done a few outreaches and a few crusades, and had a few opportunities to learn from the people here. And I’ve got to say, the praise and worship sessions here are awesome. Everyone is just so full of life. Anyway, I’ll try and find some time to report back again later. Gotta head off to a camp meeting right now.

Keep it real, Wigga(s)! Sometimes I wonder if we’re looking up at the same moon. Hehe.

Hello again, esteemed friends. Again, the report from here is good. Since the last update, we’ve been on a few more outreaches, worked with the children, shared from the Word. The team is doing really well.

As for me, I’m still the music bunny. I’m still playing for meetings, still singing. But the thing I feel most blessed with is the musicians I’ve met here. During the youth rally they held on Saturday night, you could really feel the anointing upon them. You could feel how they could bring the presence of God into the place by the way they play. It’s just amazing. I feel so privileged to be learning from them.

During our time at the outreaches (in the borangays), we were able to witness firsthand the effect of the typhoon on the people’s lives. Trees were completely uprooted, houses were half covered by boulders and dried mud. The destruction we’ve witnessed brings so much sadness to the heart. But amidst the turmoil, there’s still hope. People are rebuilding, working together, pulling through. There’s still so much green. There’s still so much beauty.

Anyway, I hope everything is alright over there. Keep chugging, guys! We still keep you in our prayers.

(P.S. Wigga, were you looking at the moon?)

Hello again  It’s been a few days since our last update, but the reason for our absence can be accounted for. Most of this week was spent at the youth camp in Ligao (?), which went really well. Lots of people were saved, baptized in water, and baptized in the Spirit. Awesome stuff. We also got to spend some time at the Coco Farm resort (down the road from the camp), by which almost the entire team managed to emerge incredibly sunburnt. Burt looks like a really pink sort of pork, Shelly’s arms are two different colours, and my shoulders resemble the Cadbury chocolate Top Deck. You’ll notice the difference when we get back home.

Anyway, upon arriving home, we dove straight back into work with the Easter Sunday services. The Redeemer skit was done twice throughout the day, and done with such force that people in the skit actually came out with slight injuries. We also headed to an outreach in the mountains and performed the God’s Love skit. The Youth Rally at night was just awesome.

Anyway, I’ll explain more another time. The CR is calling me. Take care guys! See you in a bit!

Hi Jen,
Seth is having a ball here. For 4 days in a row he had been having his 40-minute walk around Cambridge. He says: Ate Jenny..baw-waw-waw-aw-aw-aw...come home soon.

Do you like to go to the dentist while you are in Manila?
Are you enjoying the food? Masarap silang magluto diyan. Forget about dieting, we will do our CSIRO one when you come back.
I hope you took a photo of Mayon Volcano. It's really very beautiful.
Bye now. Till next e-mail.
