Eden Villagonzalo

NAME:

Eden Villagonzalo

AGE:

15

IF YOU HAD TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO A GROUP OF STRANGERS, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY/HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

I would say, “Hi, my name is Eden, I’m fifteen years old,” then I’d ask for their names.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS:

Short, filo, weird.

HOW DID YOU RAISE THE MONEY REQUIRED FOR THE MISSIONS TRIP?

I asked my family overseas to help me and they sent me money asap, which I am very grateful for.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO COME ON THE 2007 PHILIPPINES MISSIONS TRIP?

I always wanted to help less fortunate people, maybe those who haven’t heard about God. When I heard about this trip, I was thinking maybe this could be an opportunity to reach out to other people with God.

WHAT ARE THE SORTS OF THINGS YOU ARE EXPECTING TO SEE/RECEIVE FROM GOING ON THE MISSIONS TRIP?

I'm hoping to grow more spriritually in God and meet new people and make long-life friends in the Philippines.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE BEST THING ABOUT THE MISSIONS TRIP?

I think the best thing about going on the missions trip will be the fact that I'm going with a group that is totally AWESOME!

WHAT ABILITIES/TALENTS DO YOU HAVE THAT YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACTIVITIES THAT THE MISSIONS TEAM WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN?

Well, I just basically like working in groups. And I love little kids! I can entertain and make people laugh! I love a good laugh.

WHAT ABILITIES/TALENTS DO YOU HAVE THAT YOU THINK CAN BE IMPROVED BY GOING ON THE TRIP?

I think I might be able to straighten out my priorities. My Ate Kathy said that the trip helped her do so, I'm hoping it'll help me too. I also hope that I will improve on my leadership and co-operation abilities.

Well, hello Australia! Hope you’re doing all just dandy! We’re having a blast here in Legazpi! The people here are so nice! When we first arrived at Legazpi, a lot of the church was there and they were all reaching out their hands, wanting to shake ours and introduce themselves. On our first night at Legazpi, we had a FILM SHOWING CRUSADE in Sumlang where we showed the movie “The Passion Of The Christ”. Burt shared his message and everyone was touched by what he had to say. THIRTY people got saved that night. About three fourths of all the people there, came up to be prayed for. For each of the two outreaches we have had so far, I helped out a bit with the kids. I love working with the little kids! They are just so PRECIOUS! The thing is, most of them needed lollies from us to do what we wanted them to do. Ahahha. Omijay, the youth service is FANTABULOUS! We had one last night, and everyone was just jumping and singing/screaming for joy! I feel soooo at home. Hahahah. The fire and the passion of the people there in Australia don’t compare to those here. Even though they’ve recently gone through disaster, the people at Legazpi are still just all for God.

To my beautiful, beautiful family,
Mummie, Daddie, Soother Boi, Megnuggets and Kuya, I miss you all! Hope you’re not missing me TOO much ;P and I hope Maegan had fun at her party. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAEGAN! For Tuesday. =] you’re finally a teenager, yeh? Whaaa! How does it feel? Well. I LOVE YOUSE ALL! I’ll be seeing youuuuu innnnn.. aout sixteen days! Byeee! Teden xoxox.

HI EVERYBODY! The past DAY has been great. Hahah. I wore a pair of jeans! Woot! We went to the part of Legazpi that was impacted the most by the typhoon. It was really inspiring! On the sides of the roads, there were people cleaning up and repairing all the destruction, not letting the weather or amount of work bring their spirits down. And all the locals, they still had a huge smile on their faces and a song in their hearts. It encourages me to not think about the bad things in life and, if something goes wrong, to just pick up the pieces and move on. Anyways! Today’s YOUTH CAMP! Last night, we stayed up with the “Breakthrough Band” (Word of Hope Youth), making name tags and folding Jabez study sheets. We’re going to the resort at four and going to stay there until this Saturday. I’m not really sure what’s going to happen there, but I’m sure it’ll be fun. We’re expecting about two hundred people to be at this camp. Well. TTYL!

Hiiiiiiii Maegan! And daddie and mummie and kuya and soother!!! How was the first few days of your holidays? Did you all give Maegan a pressie? Dw, Maegan. Remember, I gave you an easter egg! :D okies. Anyways. I’m going nowww! Byeee! I miss youse all! Teden xoxox.

Hiyo!! Hmm. The past few days have been the youth camp [April 4-7]. It was heaps fun and lots of new friends were made. We were put into separate tribes [I was in a different tribe than Lizzie boo hoo] and we stuck with our tribes for most of the camp. My tribe was “Jashobeam” and consisted of Kuya Ludy, Ahya, Roselle, Dennis, Marc Victor, Paul, Jomarie, Kuya Sherman, Angelica and myself. It was pretty hard for me, they kept speaking in tagalong which I hardly understand. Roselle, Angelica and Ahya were my interpreters, only when they remembered to be. Otherwise, I’d just sit there and smile as if I understood everything they said. When we first got into our tribes, I was kinda nervous cos I was wondering if they’d be able to understand me. But, despite the language barrier, friends were plenty and laughter was abundant. On that camp, I learnt about Jabez, a guy in Chronicles I never heard of in my life! We learnt about his prayer and that we should pray like him. In praise and worship times, everyone would get up out of their seats and start jumping like crazy for the Lord. The unbelievers were hesitant at first, but, soon, they began to come up as well. On the last day of camp, we all walked, I think, a ten minute walk to a resort. There, people were baptized in the kiddie pool. I was the first of the many. It was really touching to just see so many people so passionate for God. I hardly see anything like this back home in Aussieland. Anyways, I’ll get back to you soon!

Hey, mummie and daddie, it was nice hearing your voices again. Dad, I nearly forgot what you sounded like. Anyways. I’ll see you next week! Teden xoxox.

Approximately 20 minutes before landing to Legazpi, look out the window for Mayon Volcano. You could take a photo.

Hi Eden, How is palm Sunday experience in the Philippines? Is it different from what you have observed in Australia? Did you go to a Catholic church? oh!oh! Is the mission a roman catholic mission? Sorry, I always assumed it is roman catholic mission. Is it or is it not. But, there is no difference. Granny and Grampa always love you anyhow.

Hello teden, it's Mum. I am very happy for you although it still makes me cry of just the thought that you are so far away. I have always said that you are not only smart but also you have such a mature outlook in life, but this mission trip makes you spiritually mature. Now you have what it takes to make a difference in this modern world. I ammmm sooo proud of you, you are indeed a gifted child. I love you and miss you.

Hello teden, it's Mum again. It is Easter Friday 2pm and am just having a break from housework that I started from 9am. Dad took Seth, Maegan & Shanni biking outdoors. We were surprise to find out that Shanni cannot ride bike, but Dad gave her a 2 hour lesson. Dad said she can ride a bit now. Uncle Almer & Auntie Bebot are on their way to pick up Shanni & Maegan. Maegan will sleep over probably until Sunday, we are planning to watch a monster trucks spectacular on Sunday night with Kuya Jay & Seth. I am looking forward to your testimony when you get back here. My thoughts are with you and the whole mission team. Hope everybody are well. Love You. Mum

Hello teden, It's Mum. Hope you & the whole team are doing fine & that no one has been sick. I just had a 2hr talk with Granny this morning. By the way, Dad & I spent Saturday catching up with 2 High school friends with their husbands from Sydney. We had a great time reminiscing our high school days, when we had nothing to worry about & comparing it to the high school generation these days with such a high depression & suicide rate. They both work in a health industry assessing people with mental problems usually from car accidents & depressions, we all shared our life stories & challenges that came along. We are thankful having been brought up with loving tender caring family which I guess made us overcome our own challenges in our adult years. I will be thinking of you, extend Happy Easter to your cousins for me.Love you Eden, lookig forward to hugs & kisses. Mum.
